    The St Beatus Trail

Beatenberg - The St Beatus Trail / Photo: Fritz Bieri

The St Beatus Trail - The idea: A special kind of experience path was created in Beatenberg. The aim of the St Beatus Trail is to create new access to natural experiences and to our rich cultural landscape. This project relates to our unique cultural heritage. On the trail of the legendary story of St Beatus we want to build new identity possibilities for our region: inspiring, contemplative and near to nature.

The legend of St Beatus has been written many times. On boards and steles on the St Beatus Trail the story is told in a short version. May be according to the view of St Beatus himself?

Each location in Beatenberg is a vantage point. But there are some, which stand out especially. One of them must be Birenfluh. The pear shaped ("bire" = pear) rock formation was created by a powerful rockfall.
